A SATURDAY morning in San Angel begins, as do most days here, with the clanging of one of the bells in the tower of the Church of San Jacinto. The church was constructed in the late 16th century by Franciscan monks and although much of it has been rebuilt, the bells have a heavy, tired sound - as though they have been ringing for too many years.
