Cleanliness

We have recently seen an increase in the amount of children with illnesses in the Center. While the increase may be due to the weather, we are doing everything possible to ensure a healthy environment for your child.

Practicing Good Hand washing

Hand washing when done correctly, helps to keep your child healthy and it avoids the spread of germs. We are encouraging all of our staff to teach the children proper hand washing techniques and to wash their hands as they change activities.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

Careful, routine cleaning of surfaces and toys greatly reduces the spread of germs. All toys and surfaces are cleaned and then disinfected throughout the day. A school-wide extensive cleaning is conducted every weekend and at the conclusion of the cleaning routine, the windows are left open to further destroy any germs that may be remaining.

Keeping Up with Immunizations

Ensuring that all children in our program are up-to-date with their immunizations is one of our best ways of protecting children against many of the contagious diseases that cause serious illnesses. All children in our program are required to be immunized unless a pediatrician has provided documentation that states otherwise.

Exclusion of Sick Children

It is extremely important that an ill child not be admitted into school. If you observe that your child is feeling ill in the morning or the night before, please do not send him/her to school. We are requesting our teachers to do a daily health check of their children; and, if your child has been brought to school ill, we will call you to immediately pick that child up within one hour. If your child develops a illness during the course of the day, we will also request a pickup within one hour. Please make sure you have a pickup alternate if you cannot get to the center within one hour.

In an effort to keep the children, families and staff at our center as healthy as possible, everyone has to do their part. As the Winter season comes to an end, hopefully we will see less illnesses in the center. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
