Our great aunt and uncle, Sam and Louise Perrella, opened the first Sammy's Pizza in Hibbing, Minnesota, in 1954. Five years later our grandparents and parents opened Sammy's Pizza in Green Bay. With tremendous effort and dedication, our parents grew the restaurant into the Sammy's Pizza we know today.
Our recipes have not changed since 1958, and additional family recipes have been added over the years. Some recipes date back to our family's original Italian restaurant opened in 1924 by our great grandparents near Iron Mountain, Michigan.
Growing up, we remember our grandmothers, who lived on the same street in Iron Mountain, making pasta by hand each morning. Today, we still make homemade pasta but get help from the pasta machine purchased by our parents while on a visit to Rome in 1976. We are proud to offer homemade spaghetti, fettuccine, gnocchi, tagliatelle and four varieties of ravioli along with six pasta sauces, meatballs and Italian sausage, also made by hand from family recipes.
Sammy's Pizza in Green Bay is a great family restaurant. Although pasta is a large part of Sammy's Pizza menu, pizza remains our most popular item. Like pasta, our pizza dough, sauce and sausage are handmade from family recipes. We use the freshest ingredients to complement our pizza offerings. The menu includes 14 specialty pizzas and 30 toppings, should you wish to build your own pizza, and we are proud to use Wisconsin-made mozzarella cheese.
A member of the Crispigna family is at Sammy's Pizza every day, including our mom, Bernie, who has lived all 60 years of this family business. Our thanks also go out to our hard-working and dedicated staff, without whom we could not be successful. We appreciate all the friends we have made over the years and always enjoy meeting new ones.
