How to Measure Windows

Measuring can be a tense process but with this guide we hope to make it as simple as possible. There are two different types of mounts. One being an inside mount which sits inside of the trim and is the most common choice. The second is the outside mount that sits outside the window trim.

Inside Mount

Step 1: Measure the window opening at three different places while using the narrowest dimension when placing an order. The custom blinds are made to avoid rubbing against the window casing so be sure to be exact.

Step 2: As shown in the picture below, measure the height of the window from the top down to the sill. This typically ends in a tolerance of 1/2 or 1/4

Outside Mount

Step 1: Measure exact width and height of are as shown in the picture below. Our recommendation is for the blind to overlap the window by at least 1 1/2" on each side to insure privacy and control the sunlight.

Step 2: Allow for the blind to overlap the bottom of the window by at least 1 1/2" as well which might end in a tolerance of 1/2 or 1/4 as well.
