We Are Here to Support You

Unplanned Pregnancy

When you are faced with an unplanned pregnancy, you have several options. Sometimes it can be hard to think clearly when you are feeling stressed or anxious. It can be tough to imagine the future and the impact this one decision will have on your life. It is important to educate yourself on all of your options.

Your options include:

  •  Single Parenting
  •  Marriage and Parenting
  •  Adoption
  •  Abortion (Alternatives does not provide or refer for abortions or abortifacients)

Before You Decide

Alternatives will give you the opportunity to explore and discuss information concerning each of these options. We're here to support and help you through any confusion and uncertainty that you may be experiencing as you face an unplanned pregnancy. You are not alone.  We do not advise, provide or refer for abortions or abortifacients.

When Your Pregnancy Test Comes Back Negative

This is your chance to decide whether or not you want to be in this situation again. Alternatives can provide information to help you make a wise decision regarding your future.

Pregnancy Testing

Free Service

Alternatives offers free pregnancy tests to help confirm your pregnancy. We’re here to help you make an informed decision that you will feel good about. You don’t have to do this alone, we care about you and are ready to help.

We can also offer verification of pregnancy so that you can begin the process of applying for Medicaid and WIC if needed.

Do you think you may be pregnant?

If you think you’re pregnant, you might be wondering exactly what’s going on in your body. During pregnancy, your body goes through many changes. Some common symptoms of early pregnancy:

  • You may experience nausea or dizziness
  • You may experience frequent urination
  • You may feel more tired than usual
  • Your breasts may be swollen or tender
  • You may experience weight loss or gain

If you think you might be pregnant, a pregnancy test will confirm whether the hormone created during pregnancy (hCG) is present in your urine.

Ultrasounds

Free Service

Whether your pregnancy is planned or unplanned we offer free ultrasounds for clients who meet the criteria. We use a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine to perform the scans. Our ultrasounds are performed by licensed and certified sonographers with physician oversight.

Comprehensive Service

  • All of the ultrasound examinations, regardless of the stage of pregnancy, include a general overview of the pelvic area. This is done to assure that the pregnancy has implanted in the uterus and not in the falopian tube (a medical emergency known as an ectopic pregnancy). Then the developing baby itself is examined to determine if the pregnancy is viable. A very important component of this part of the exam is measuring the heartbeat. Our ultrasounds are not intended to diagnose abnormalities.
  • You will also meet with a nurse for nutrition information, gestational development and healthy pregnancy guidelines.

Eligibility

  • Ultrasounds are performed BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
  • If a client has already established care with a health care professional for their pregnancy, Alternatives will not be able to provide an ultrasound.

For it was You who created my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother's womb.
