ANNUAL AUCTION & DINNER IS FAST APPROACHING!

Our annual auction and dinner is just 2 weeks away. November 7th will be here before we know it. You can lend your support in one or more of the following ways:

  • Plan to attend, invite your friends and family to join you, and make your reservations today. Reserving online via our website is not only simple, but very convenient, too.
  • Donate a silent auction item. A gift certificate or card, a themed basket, or an experience package are just a few suggestions. Download a procurement form or submit your donation form on our website.
  • Advertising and sponsorship opportunities are still available. If you are a business owner or know of someone who is, a business card size ad is just $35 and an awesome business promotional tool. The deadline for inclusion in our event program is Monday, October 27. This can also be done through our website.

Feel free to forward this email newsletter to your friends and family and ask for their support. It will help tremendously.

If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Ungren, our auction chair, at (360) 536-2958 or email kathyungren@gmail.com.

PROGRAM MEETING & "LADIES NIGHT OUT" NEXT TUESDAY

Please plan to join us next Tuesday for a very special program meeting and "Ladies Night Out".

Author and literary performer, Mary Lou Sanelli will be on hand to share with us her book, Among Friends: A Memoir, and explore the subject of friendship in women's lives. Sanelli was the guest speaker at a Soroptimist International event a few years back and they claim she was, by far, the best speaker the organization has ever had.

We are also very excited to welcome two new members to Soroptimist -- Erin Hebeler and Sheila Jones. This will be their first meeting and will be inducting them that night.

Do you know a woman who (1) provides primary financial support for herself and her dependents, (2) has a financial need, (3) is enrolled in a vocational or skills training, or an undergraduate degree program, and (4) is motivated to achieve her education and career goals?

Applications are now being accepted for the 2014-2015 Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award (formerly the Women's Opportunity Award), which assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.

This year, our club will award up to $4,000 in scholarships. Please help us spread the word by sharing this information and a link to our website with anyone you know who may qualify. Eligibility requirements and application forms and instructions are up on our website.

SOROPTIMIST "ROUND-UP" A HUGE SUCCESS!

On behalf of the membership committee, we'd like to send special thanks out to all members who attended and invited guests to our Soroptimist "Round-Up" on Thursday, October 16. They are Emma Armstrong, Pat Degracia, Mo Anduiza, Elaine Turso, Marcia Baker, Janelle Cain, Kristi Croswaite, Sharon Weathers, Kathleen Cahall, and Kathy Ungren.  We had a great turnout and it was a huge success. In fact, Erin Hebeler and Sheila Jones both became Soroptimist members that night. Guests had an opportunity to learn more about Soroptimist and meet and mingle with existing members. Stay tuned ... another one is in the works for early next year.
