KEF 105/3 Refoam Kit
This kit will fit KEF 105/3 speakers. All four 8" woofers have an angled attachment to cone and use 2.75" donut style foam dust caps.
Each Refoam Kit includes all the materials needed to repair four (4) woofers:
- Refoaming Instructions
- Four 8" Angled Foam Surrounds
- Shims For Centering the 1" Voice Coils
- 4 Donut Foam Dust Caps.
- 1 Bottle of Specially Formulated Foam Surround Adhesive (dries clear).
*It can very difficult to refoam a speaker without removing the dust cap and inserting the plastic shims in the voice coil gap. The plastic shims are used to center the voice coil and cone assembly while the speaker is being refoamed. If you do not use the plastic shims, the voice coil may be off center and it may lead to the voice coil rubbing.
These foam donut dust caps are used to prevent debris from entering the voice coil area. If these continue to rot and are not replaced, the foam pieces can fall down into the voice coil gap and prevent optimal sound quality.
***PLEASE READ*** Outside diameter of our foam dust cap is 2.75". Inside diameter is .84". We have noticed that this piece is a little too large on the inside diameter for some KEF woofers, which are .75" instead of .84". Our dust cap will still work, but has barely enough of a lip to glue onto the black plastic piece where the metal pole runs thru the middle.
We are a KEF authorized service center and use these parts everyday.
A - Outside diameter of the surround = 7.75"
B - Roll ends = 6.938"
C - Roll starts / O.D. of the cone = 6"
D - Inside diameter of the surround = 5.5"
