Gang Prevention and Intervention:

The Twin Cities are currently in the midst of a surge of gang-relation homicides and incidents, many of them capturing front
page attention. All involved are calling for increased efforts in crime prevention and early intervention. LLMS gang intervention and prevention program focuses on workshops, public speaking, positive relationships, conflict resolution, self-esteem, and personal responsibility. LLMS builds these services and foundation of experience in working with gang-related youth in the past.
This program is run much like the mentoring. Staff at Life Long Mentoring has a unique and valuable experiences working with youth at-risk or already involved with gang activities. Agency staff work one on one and in groups with young persons to get them involved in examining their involvements and plugged into activities and services that are much more constructive. These activities are a form of group mentoring and involve communication circles, educational and job development, and special community projects.
