#BreakFreeKitsap - Human Trafficking Education & Awareness

It's a huge problem that spans the globe and involves millions of people. It's not hunger. It's not poverty. It's human trafficking and its victims are not only women. Many are just kids, both girls and boys, who have not even hit the age of puberty. They are being trafficked, forced into labor, sexually exploited, sold! The sad truth is many people are totally unaware of the scope and severity of this heinous crime or have simply chosen to ignore it.

Our Soroptimist club is committed to joining the fight to end human trafficking, specifically as it relates to sexual exploitation. No! We are not trained to work directly with victims or survivors. No! We cannot mobilize forces to catch the "bad guys" and put them behind bars. However, through our #BreakFreeKitsap Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative, we can help to educate and raise awareness of this atrocity in communities across Kitsap County, and to provide opportunities for victims and survivors to tell their stories.

Please join us on Wednesday, June 21st to learn more about the current climate of human trafficking here in Kitsap County from individuals and organizations working directly with law enforcement, the prosecutor's office, and victims and survivors.

Service Project - We will be collecting your voluntary donations of personal and feminine hygiene products to benefit survivors who enter or are going through the Human Trafficking Diversion Program.

Awards Night

We are very pleased to be presenting three awards at this event - all related to anti-human trafficking efforts here in Kitsap County.

Two award recipients are organizations/agencies that work directly with victims and survivors of human trafficking.

We will also acknowledge a survivor of trafficking who is moving forward with her life with support from the Human Trafficking Diversion Program.
